Penguins at Pinspirational Challenges!

A belated Happy New Year! 9 days in and 2012 seems like a distant memory! 2013 is looking like a briliant year ahead and I'm looking forward to the awesome crafting adventures!

So with a New Year we have a new challenge at Pinspirational Challenges! I'd like to welcome to the new members of our DT (if I haven't mentioned them already!) and to our new 'Teams' layout!

So without further ado. Here's your image for this week's challenge - Penguins!

Our sponsor this week is: Bugaboo Stamps

Our Sponsor this week

Here's my creation:

I've created a box with lid using design papers from First Paper Editions Desert Blossom collection. To make the box I used the Martha Stewart scoring board. The box has a 2" depth around. I coloured up an image from our sponsor and then used 2 papers from the Blossoms and Buterflies collection from DCWV's 8 x 8 paper pad for the decoration. I used one of my favourite dies - Spellbinders Lacy Ovals die also.

I hope that our image and creations via the DT have inspired you to join in our challenge this week! Have a look at our blog and enter in our awesome challenge! Tell your crafting friends, groups and followers to join in and create too and follow our blog for future updatesand more challenges! Happy Crafting!

Thaaaaank Yooou!

Can't believe it's 6ish weeks until Christmas. This year has gone waaaay to fast! It's November and our challenge at Aud Sentiments this fortnight is:

Create a card or project which includes a sentiment giving thanks!
So that could be Thanksgiving, or it could be "Thanks for being my friend" or any other sentiment you can think of which includes the word "THANKS".

We're sponsored this fortnight by: Di's Digi Designs

Here's some info about them:
Di's Digi Designs do a great range of cute images - for boys, girls, you name it!
They also have a range of backgrounds for you to use...AND, if your colouring is not fabulous...you can buy a pre-coloured image instead!

The prize this fortnight courtesy of our sponsors is a $10 gift voucher for the store.
So what are you waiting for? Come & join in our challenge & spread the word!

Here's my creation below:

This is just a little card to the incredible friends I have in my life. Those who's stuck by me, and always been there for me when times have been tough. Those who I trust, who are nearest and dearest and have always cheered me up no end - and give the biggest hugs too! :) This card is dedicated to them and to say a 'Huge Thank You!'

I used caramel card for the base of my card, and then used paper from the Love Letters 6 x 6 First Paper Edition paper pad. The image is Princess Tia from Some Odd Girl, I used a Spellbinders lacy circles oval die for the background and Anita's Art ribbon for the bow - with button detail. The stamp set I used for the sentiment is Lawn Fawn's Harold's ABC alphabet - which sets it off nicely :)

Check out Team A's creation from our DT team and stop by the following week for Team B's creation to get you inspired!

Challenge ends Tuesday 20th November 2012

Gloria! (In Excelsis Deo)

Hey there! Thanks for visiting today :) The title of today's post is actually a hymn I used to sing when I was back in school many, many years ago in assembly with other children in our year, and is coincedently the name of a lovely friend of mine who I've known since I was probably still at school too!

I made a card for my gorgeous friend Gloria as she's been in hospital for the last week because of her condition - Hydrocephalus.

Hydrocephalus is a condition known as 'water in the brain' where there is an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the cavities / ventircles of the brain. Gloria has suffered from this condition since she was a child and she's now in her late 20's. More recently her condition has caused her to frequently be in and out of hospital for check ups, monitoring and treatment.

She's an awesome girl, I've known her for about 9 or 10 years now, we first met through a mutual of friend of ours and I've shared many great moments of her life and I'll no doubt continue to share more moments with her :) She's been in hospital this week and I visited her yesterday (Saturday) to see how she was doing. And as always to let her know I'm here for her and hope she gets well soon - the crafter in me made a card to cheer her up and let her know I'm thinking of her! So here's the card below:

I've used the Greeting Farm stamp 'Cuddle Anya' which I've always thought was a really cute 'Get Well Soon' stamp - the teddy bear outfit just gives it away :) And I used the Anna Lee collection of papers from Prima. I used some Anita's Arts Blue ribbon, some cotton string and a sentiment from my stash. I used the Lacy Ovals Spellbinders Nestabilities and cream cardstock for the base and added layering. I'm really obsessed with ribbons lately, no idea why - big ribbons too. The more ribbon the better it seems! :)

Gloria really liked the card, and posted a picture of it on Facebook :D and thanked me for cheering her up (Yay!) We always manage to have a laugh together, so I hope she's feeling a lot better! <3
